VARICOSE VEINS TREATMENTS

Radiofrequency ablation

What is Radiofrequency Ablation?
Heat delivered to the vein wall through a catheter causing the vessel to shrink. The catheter is gradually withdrawn along the course of the vein until the entire vessel has been treated.

What is Venefit?
The Venefit™ procedure — formerly known as the VNUS Closure Technique — is a minimally invasive treatment for varicose veins in which a vein specialist inserts a catheter in to the diseased vein causing it to collapse and close. After the vein is sealed shut, blood is naturally re-routed to other healthier veins.

What to Expect?
The Venefit™ procedure allows for a quick procedure with minimal downtime, comfortable recovery and improvement of varicose veins.

What are the benefits of Venefit™?
Minimally Invasive — No Hospitalization, No Surgery and No General Anesthesia! The procedure results in little to no scarring and is performed in-office by a vein specialist using only local anesthesia (but moderate sedation is available for those who experience high levels of anxiety).
Less Pain, Less Bruising, Faster Recovery —
Consistent heat is delivered from the catheter allowing for less pain and bruising.
Up to four times faster improvement in patients’ quality of life.
Excellent Clinical Outcomes —
Proven to be 93% according to the Kaplan Meier Analysis*

Ambulatory Phlebectomy

What is Ambulatory Phlebectomy?

Ambulatory Phlebectomy or “micro-phlebectomy” is an outpatient procedure that removes those bulging, painful veins and allows patients to resume their normal routines immediately after treatment. The Ambulatory Phlebectomy procedure is usually performed on larger, superficial veins, but can also be used to treat smaller veins in many patients. Ambulatory Phlebectomy is a micro-extraction procedure, which allows for the removal of large surface varicosities through very small incisions that need no stitches.

Discomfort following the Ambulatory Phlebectomy procedure is minimal and can be treated with mild pain relievers. Although you may experience some slight swelling or bruising following the procedure, the use of compression stockings will minimize these effects and speed the healing process. Most patients are not at all uncomfortable and need no pain medication. Patients may stand and walk and return to work on the day following the procedure. Strenuous activity should be limited for one to two weeks.

What are the benefits of Ambulatory Phlebectomy?
Walk in—walk out
Office procedure
Minimally invasive punctures
Local anesthesia only*
Stitches not required
No down-time
Excellent cosmetic results
*Moderate sedation is available for those who experience high levels of anxiety

Foam Sclerotherapy

What is Foam Sclerotherapy?

Foam Sclerotherapy is a safe and effective method for treating troublesome varicose veins through injecting a detergent-like agent which has been suspended in foam into the vein. This method is so effective because the foam fills the entire cavity of the vein. The use of foam sclerosants allows the active chemical ingredients to remain in contact with the vessel wall for an extended period of time, enhancing the effectiveness of the treatments. This advanced form of sclerotherapy has been cleared by the Food and Drug Administration for use in the United States.

What are the benefits of Foam Sclerotherapy?
Foam sclerotherapy has two distinct advantages over traditional sclerotherapy procedures. Because the sclerosing agent is in a foam form, it is able to displace the blood in the vessel being treated, which means the sclerosing formula is able to be in direct contact with the vessel wall for a longer period of time, allowing it to work more effectively than liquid agents which may be diluted by blood flow. Also, the foam is visible on ultrasound, and its placement, spread, and effects can be guided and tracked more effectively as a result.

Foam sclerotherapy has few side effects, but compression hose should be worn for at least 2 weeks after treatment. It typically takes about six weeks for the veins to disappear completely. The injection site may be slightly sore and some bruising may occur, but the veins will no longer cause pain. Once they are gone, they will not return.
